The Barrett apartments and single-family homes are an urban in-fill and adaptive reuse community on the grounds of the former Columbus City Schools’ Barrett Middle School. Sullivan Bruck Architects’ involvement in the project was to create 52 townhouse and garden style apartments within five new three story buildings and 22 new single-family homes that seamlessly integrate within the Merion Village neighborhood just south of downtown Columbus. The apartment units range in areas of 830 to 1,290 square feet and each unit has an attached single car garage. The single-family homes range in areas of 1,882 – 2,015 square feet and each home has an attached or detached two car garage. The architecture of the homes was designed to blend in with the tapestry of the surrounding urban neighborhood in south Columbus.
